Parents often ask us what they should do when a teacher says their child is having issues in the classroom. Tomorrow we will look at a major piece to the puzzle in solving your student’s classroom difficulties.
Back-To-School Shoe / Sneaker Shopping Tips
Here are some important tips when back-to-school shoe/sneaker shopping:
1. Have your kids try on shoes at the end of the day or after a workout when feet are swelled.
2. There must be at least a half-inch of space between the longest toe and the tip of the shoes. Make sure there is plenty of room to wiggle the toes inside each shoe.
3. Always lace the shoes when trying them on.
4. When trying on shoes, have your student wear the type of socks they would normally be wearing.
5. Walk and run in the shoes on different surfaces like tile or carpet to make sure they are comfortable. They should not require breaking in.
Listening vs. Speaking
From listening comes wisdom and from speaking comes remorse.
Life is a Mirror
Life is a mirror. If you frown at it, it frowns back. If you smile at it, it returns the greeting.
Make a Life
Students are always told that they need to learn so they can have a successful career. However teach them that we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.
Personal Breakthroughs
All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs.
Fix Your Problems
Spend your energy on how you can fix a problem and not who to blame for it.
At Once
One can’t do everything at once, but one can do something at once.
Kids, Money, and Capitalism
Kids can learn about money, hard work and capitalism. Some parents don’t believe in giving their kids an allowance. Instead they give their kids a commission. If the children work doing chores, they get paid. If they don’t work, they don’t get anything. Children learn very quickly how capitalism works throughout the United States. They realize if they want something, they will have to work hard to earn it.
The pay range could be around $1 to $5 per chore. Some increase the amount as the child grows and the work becomes more difficult. If you decide to go this route, make sure the commission amount is appropriate for your family and budget.
