Abraham Lincoln lost the race in 1858 for Illinois U.S. Senate to Stephen Douglas. Two years later he beat Douglas and became U.S. President. We can learn from this that it is OK to lose if we can learn from our mistakes. Also temporary failures do not define one’s life.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt won 4 terms as United States President, despite problems walking and having polio. He did not let his challenges stop him. It can be argued that world is a better place because of his decisions.

Thomas Edison’s teachers called him “stupid”. He couldn’t sit still, focus and was talkative. If he quit, you’d need candles to read this.

Many famous people overcame problems by not quitting. Isaac Newton did poorly in elementary school. Never count anyone out.

Scouts said Dustin Pedroia was too small and didn’t have enough power. He became the Boston Red Sox 2007 Rookie of the Year and 2008 MVP.

A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because he had “no good ideas.”
