Thorough preparation makes its own luck.
You Are Forever Entitled
This summer keep the following in mind. You are forever entitled to walk in the rain, jump in mud puddles, stare at rainbows, smell flowers, blow bubbles, stop along the way, build sand castles, watch the moon and stars, read children’s books, act silly, fly kites, wander around without knowing where you are going, give up worry/guilt and shame, stay innocent, ask lots of questions, ride bicycles, draw and paint, see things differently, fall down and get up again, talk and play with animals, look in the sky, stay up late, climb trees, play with toys, have pillow fights, take naps, do nothing, daydream, learn new things, get excited about new things, listen to music, find out how things work, tell stories, save the world, and make friends.
You can always frequent amusement parks, go to beaches, meadows, mountaintops, swimming pools, forests, playgrounds, picnic areas, summer camps, birthday parties, theaters, museums, planetariums, toy stores, festivals, and fireworks.
It is never too late to have a happy childhood.
Make a Difference
There was a young man walking down a deserted beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a frail old man. As he approached the old man, he saw him picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. The young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again threw the small starfish from the sand to the water. He asked, “Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?” The old man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. “But there must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish!” exclaimed the young man. “How can you make any difference?”
The old man looked at the small starfish in his hand and as he threw it to the safety of the sea he said, “It makes a difference to this one! I make a difference!”

Y3K Tutor In Your Home Golden Rule for Living: Fight Prevention
Y3K Tutor In Your Home Golden Rule for Living: If you hurt someone accidentally, let them know it was an accident and apologize.
Most fights occur because this rule is not followed. Kids often fight others because they think that the other kid is attacking them. The reality often times is the “attacker” accidentally hurt the “victim” and never acknowledged that it was accidental. The “victim” then retaliates and attacks the “attacker”. The “attacker” then feels that they are being attacked. At this point major fights can occur. The simple solution is to recognize a mistake happened and apologize for it.
Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln lost the race in 1858 for Illinois U.S. Senate to Stephen Douglas. Two years later he beat Douglas and became U.S. President. We can learn from this that it is OK to lose if we can learn from our mistakes. Also temporary failures do not define one’s life.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt won 4 terms as United States President, despite problems walking and having polio. He did not let his challenges stop him. It can be argued that world is a better place because of his decisions.
Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison’s teachers called him “stupid”. He couldn’t sit still, focus and was talkative. If he quit, you’d need candles to read this.
