Everybody Gets a Trophy vs. Competition
The “everybody gets a trophy” kids tend to always need constant encouragement, expect accolades for completing routine tasks and respond poorly to correction or criticism. Competition can be good for children. They learn how to handle winning and losing.
Not Keeping Score in Sports For Kids
Some crusty adults try to ruin sports for kids by not allowing teams to keep score. Kids are smarter than that and understand who really won no matter what these adults do.
Asperger’s Kids and Group Settings
Often times Asperger’s kids may need an adult to initially get them involved with other kids in group projects, sports teams or games.
Math Fun
Sports statistics are great for having fun with math. Finding baseball batting averages and earned run averages put math skills to good use.
Sports
Sports tend to be the main focus of some students. Parents should stress that athletics are great, but schoolwork must be their #1 priority.
Team Sports
Team sports aren’t for everyone. Kids can excel in non-competitive sports like karate, weightlifting, boxing & etc. This is for L in Newton.
Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity is a big problem in America. Kids should be active through sports or outdoor play. Active Bodies = Healthy Bodies and Minds
Exhaustion
If your child is tired after school or sports, a short nap can quickly energize a person. A refreshed student can easily tackle homework.
