Y3K Tutor In Your Home has been tutoring my son since the fall.  My son has gone from having mostly C, C- and even D grades to mostly B’s.  Our tutor is convinced that he will continue to improve and that my son will be making honor roll in the near future! My son’s motivation has increased considerably and he is taking pride in his work.  I know that my son would not be doing as well today without Y3K Tutor In Your Home’s support and I plan on continuing the tutoring when my son enters Needham High School next year.

Halloween Cancelled

HALLOWEEN CANCELLED

Halloween has been officially cancelled at the Mitchell Elementary School in Needham, MA.  Every year children at the school enjoy Halloween themed classroom parties and a school parade.  However this is all about to change.  Due to an occasional student that chooses to not participate or finds Halloween offensive, acknowledging the fun-filled children’s holiday is now banned.

Principal Greg Bayse said the school is cancelling its traditional Halloween celebrations for the purpose of “reducing exclusion among students”.  According to the Principal, the staff claims, “ending the practice would promote inclusivity”.  He goes on to say that banning Halloween “…is a positive change that will benefit our students and our community.”

We have also heard reports of other schools that have decided to follow suit. Do you remember enjoying Halloween when you were in school?  Do your children enjoy Halloween?  Should Halloween be banned in school for everyone to accommodate an occasional child that opts to not participate or has the world gone insane?

Here is the complete list of items collected for the Y3K Tutor In Your Home 15th Annual Buddy Dog Humane Society Collection Drive.  There are three convenient drop-off locations.  Pick-ups are the first Saturday of each month.  Our collection drive is from November 1st to January 10th.  Call now!

 

Most Needed Items:

  • Martingale collars of all sizes

  • Bleach

  • Non-clumping, clay cat litter

  • Laundry detergent

  • Canned dog food (any brand or variety)

  • Plastic storage bins in medium and large sizes with lids!

  • Instinct Brand Rabbit Formula (Wet and Dry) Cat food

 

For the Cats and Kittens:

  • Canned cat food (any brand, but not the shredded variety)

  • Towels

  • Fishing pole toys

  • Small, rubber-bottom bath mats for cats who shred their newspaper (New or gently used)

  • Non-clumping, clay cat litter

 

For the Dogs and Puppies:

  • Special Diets:

    • ​Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Venison dog food

    • Hill’s K/D

    • Low-fat, low-calorie, or high-fiber

    • Hills Science Diet ID canned dog food and kibble!

  • Sturdy leashes, 6-foot and 8-foot

  • Toys (with no choking hazards such as beads)

  • Bully sticks, DentaStix, Greenies (no rawhides please)

  • Blankets, towels, sheets

  • Pill Pockets

  • Soft, chewy treats (soft Milkbones, BilJacs, Buddy Biscuits, etc.)

  • Canned dog food (any brand or variety)

 

For the Staff:

  • Office supplies: pens, duct tape, etc…especially wet erase markers!

  • Paper towels and tissues

  • First-aid items: band-aids, antibiotic ointment

  • Dish sponges, dish soap

  • Paw Safe ice melt (in the fall and winter)

  • Bug Spray (seasonal)
