PARCC Test Spring 2014

The country is getting ready for new nationwide tests to measure student performance. Coming soon will be a trial run of the new national standardized test called Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). About 2/3 of MA’s schools have been chosen to participate in the PARCC trial next spring. This includes the Y3K Tutor In Your Home communities of Natick and Weston. The full list of schools participating in the trial run have not been released yet as some are still being chosen and notified.

Check back here tomorrow for how the MCAS 10th grade graduation requirement will be handled.

PARCC Trial Run in MA

On November 19, 2013 the Massachusetts Board of Education approved the new nationwide Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) tests for a two-year trial run in certain locations. Later in 2015, they will then decide if it will be used on an ongoing basis. Come back tomorrow for some towns taking this test later this spring.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative will trigger a higher level of critical thinking and deeper understanding into your child’s curriculum. After preparing the material to study, students should quiz themselves regularly for at least a week before the test. The brain is basically like a muscle that grows stronger with use. Having students write out questions, then retrieve information and connect the dots repeatedly is more effective than passively reading or listening.
