A Sign of What’s to Come?

Schools are opening up again to administer Advanced Placement exams for selected students according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  They put in place the following rules to allow them to have the testing administered in the school buildings, yet not infect everyone with COVID-19.

According to their plan, following rules are supposed to be observed:

  • No congregating outside school.
  • Ordered/staggered entrance and exit of students into and out of the building and classrooms.
  • No more than a total of 10 students and staff in any single classroom.
  • Adequate spacing of desks to ensure social distancing in each classroom.
  • Students must return home immediately following the test.

Are these safety rules a sign of what is to come in education?  When schools are re-opened for both students and staff, is this how schools will conducted?  It will be interesting to see what happens this coming September.

Here is the complete list of items collected for the Y3K Tutor In Your Home 17th Annual Buddy Dog Humane Society Collection Drive.  There are three convenient drop-off locations.  Pick-ups are the first Saturday of each month.  Our collection drive is from November 1st to January 10th.  Call now!

Most Needed Items:

  • Martingale collars of all sizes

  • Bleach

  • Non-clumping, clay cat litter

  • Laundry detergent

  • Canned dog food (any brand or variety)

  • Plastic storage bins in medium and large sizes with lids!

  • Instinct Brand Rabbit Formula (Wet and Dry) Cat food

For the Cats and Kittens:

  • Canned cat food (any brand, but not the shredded variety)

  • Towels

  • Fishing pole toys

  • Small, rubber-bottom bath mats for cats who shred their newspaper (New or gently used)

  • Non-clumping, clay cat litter

For the Dogs and Puppies:

  • Special Diets:

    • ​Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Venison dog food

    • Hill’s K/D

    • Low-fat, low-calorie, or high-fiber

    • Hills Science Diet ID canned dog food and kibble!

  • Sturdy leashes, 6-foot and 8-foot

  • Toys (with no choking hazards such as beads)

  • Bully sticks, DentaStix, Greenies (no rawhides please)

  • Blankets, towels, sheets

  • Pill Pockets

  • Soft, chewy treats (soft Milkbones, BilJacs, Buddy Biscuits, etc.)

  • Canned dog food (any brand or variety)

For the Staff:

  • Office supplies: pens, duct tape, etc…especially wet erase markers!

  • Paper towels and tissues

  • First-aid items: band-aids, antibiotic ointment

  • Dish sponges, dish soap

  • Paw Safe ice melt (in the fall and winter)

  • Bug Spray (seasonal)

Gift Cards:

We can always use gift certificates from the following stores to purchase shelter supplies.

  • Staples, Target, Walmart

  • Ocean State Job Lot

  • Home Depot, Lowe’s

  • B.J’S Wholesale Club
