A divorce can affect all aspects of a student’s life including academics. Even if separated and at odds, BOTH parents must insist on maintaining high academic standards.

When parents divorce, the children always suffer. Explain to your kids that both parents love them and that it isn’t their fault.

School systems will deny services because of money, yet tell you help isn’t needed. They then make you out to be unruly for taking a stand.
SPED Homework
SPED kids must be given the same type of reports, projects, homework, and tests as the rest of the class. It’s up to the school to modify them as needed.
Fight For Your Kids
Special ed. and gifted students are sometimes written off and not pushed to their full potential. It is up to you to make sure this does not happen.
Accommodations
It is not up to you to accommodate the school system. It is up to the school system to accommodate your child and you.
SPED Services – Tutor Advocate
Some school systems won’t give SPED services until someone that speaks their language is on your side such as a tutor, advocate, or lawyer.
Fight For Your Children
Schools are strapped for cash and tend to fight giving out needed services. Don’t blindly go along with whatever they say. Sometimes they try to short-change you while claiming they know what is best. Fight for your kids.

Sports statistics are great for having fun with math. Finding baseball batting averages and earned run averages put math skills to good use.

Stress balls are great for calming a student and allowing them to re-focus.
